Mid-Autumn Celebration at Sunway Putra Mall | Sunway Putra Mall中秋节庆典

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! 中秋节快乐!
Thank you to Sunway Putra Mall for inviting me to their first lantern parade last Saturday, in conjunction with the celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival this year.
Sunway Putra Mall has invited 100 kids from Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) and Touching Lives Club Kuala Lumpur & Selangor to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Before the lantern parade started, everyone gathered at Selera Street at 4th floor where the kids from the charity homes were treated to a mooncake and lantern making workshop
The kids were taught by the Touching Lives Club Kuala Lumpur & Selangor on how to make their own mini mooncakes by using dough, fillings and mooncake mold. They were also taught on how to make their own lanterns too.
Shoppers and tourists were also presented to share the happiness, and I was so happy that I made my first snow skin mooncake during the workshop.
“At Sunway Putra Mall, we are not just a shopping mall, but an urban lifestyle mall where we encourage not only shopping activities, but also leisure times to be spent with family and friends. We strive for our shoppers to get in touch with different festive and culture, and what better way to do that then teaching them about various festivals that we have in Malaysia.”said Ms Phang Sau Lian, General Manager of Sunway Putra Mall.
We were ushered to Manhattan Fish Market for a yummy dinner treat.
Everyone enjoyed the scrumptious seafood feast before the lantern parade started.
The long awaited lantern parade started right after the dinner, where everyone parading together with the colorful lanterns which started along the route circling the mall.
The founder of Touching Lives Club, Mr. Raymond Chin was glad that the initiative to gather public and other races together as one came to reality.
‘This Mid-Autumn festival is the second biggest celebration for the Chinese. On this day, the moon is fuller and brighter and stands as a symbol of harmony and unity. We love this festive as much as the others. It resembles very much of who we are. A community who looks forward to building up community spirit and racial harmony.” said Chin.

All guests were treated to a mooncake galore and the evening ended on a high note as moments after the credits rolled, Sunway Putra Mall has donated 300 lanterns to the charity homes to decorate their houses.
Once again, thanks to Sunway Putra Mall for organizing such a meaningful event to create lasting memories on this Mid-Autumn Festival.
