I was invited by Sunway Putra Mall to attend
the launch of their ‘Klasik Raya’ in conjunction with Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year.
Being a regular shopper at Sunway Putra Mall, I was mesmerized by the décor
the moment I stepped into the main concourse area. The ‘Klasik Raya’ theme brings
shoppers back to the 60’s where vintage and modish was the rage. Taking centre
stage at the main concourse is a magnificent 60’s ‘Panggong’ surrounded by
quaint vintage shop houses.
The launch was
officiated by Tan Sri Razman M. Hashim, Deputy Chairman of Sunway Group along
with his wife, Puan Sri Latiffah Kamarudin. Also present were, Mr. HC Chan,
Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Malls and Theme Parks; Mr. Kevin Tan, Chief
Operating Officer of Sunway Malls and Ms. Phang Sau Lian, General Manager of
Sunway Putra Mall.
Lights, Camera,
Action! Signaling the launch at the ‘Panggong’, Tan Sri Razman,
Puan Sri Latiffah, Mr. HC Chan, and Mr. Kevin clapped their vintage clapper
board followed by confetti as to mark the beginning of Raya Klasik at the
mall.
‘Klasik Raya’ theme was inspired by the timeless
traditions and cultures of Malaysia’s yesteryears. Mr.
HC Chan said “It plays an
important and integral role in the community by encouraging communal harmony
and integration. It offers not only an excellent platform to reach out to
people from all walks of life but provides a space for the community to
converge too.”
The
crowd was later entertained with classic pop dance featuring the hit songs
back in the 60’s.
The highlight of the launch was Greyson Chance, an international singer-songwriter
was invited to perform his latest single, ‘Afterlife’. Meanwhile, Nik Qistina, a
homegrown Malaysia artist also serenaded the crowd with ‘Pulang Di Hari Raya’.
In the meantime, Sunway
Putra Mall also officiate ‘Food Bank’,
a corporate social responsonsibilty (CSR) campaign initiated by the mall
together with The Touching Lives Club Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. This campaign
aims to encourage shoppers to donate non-perishable food items to the underpriviledged
as an act to support during this festive season. Donations would be distributed
to Pusat Jagaan Lambaian Kasih, Sg.Penchala before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
All the 30
childrens from Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) receieved
Raya packets and goodie bags from Tan Sri Razman and his wife. All hampers were
sponsored by Friends of Burger and Popular Bookstore.
We were ushered to
Selera Street food hall for an Iftar session thereafter.
‘Klasik Raya’ runs from now till 10 July
2016, throughout the month of Ramadan and Syawal.
